As regular readers of our blog will know, we’re passionate about providing all the essential information on microfiber products. Cloths, towels, and pads enable staff in hospitals and healthcare centers to maintain a clean, hygienic environment. This is vital for both the patients’ and staff wellbeing, as lax hygiene can contribute to the spread of infections and diseases.
People want to feel safe and secure entering a hospital or healthcare center, but if the environment’s quality of cleaning appears to be lacking, the process may be more difficult than it should be.
Microfiber Usage on the Rise
Microfiber cleaning materials are becoming more and more popular. Why? This is easier to use than standard items, and absorbs more water, requiring less use in the long run. Due to the highly-effective cleaning power, janitorial staff can avoid chemical-based cleaners.
Microfiber cleaning products require less laundering than standard materials, but to keep them performing at their best, following the proper procedures to clean them is key.
Cleaning your microfiber after every use should become a habit. You may be tempted to let microfiber pads dry before using it again, but this carries a risk of contamination. As with microfiber towels, it’s important to separate microfiber pads to avoid cross contamination.
Proper Laundering for Microfiber
Before laundering microfiber pads, you should use a brush to break up residues which are heavily set into the pads. You should take care to wash pads separately from microfiber towels, as the foam rears and Velcro may snag. This causes damage during laundering, to the pads and the towels.
When washing your microfiber mop pads, you should use microfiber revitalizer if you can find it, but if not, avoid standard laundry soap, particularly without any dye or perfume. Be sure to launder your pads on a warm setting, as a hot setting can damage their glue membrane.
To speed up the drying process, use a wire rack to allow air to reach the pads.
Taking care of your microfiber cleaning pads is essential to ensure you get the highest quality of performance possible, but this material is actually far more durable than standard cotton cloths. At Texas Micro Fiber, we stock a wide variety of microfiber mop pads, ideal for cleaning hospitals to an exceptional standard.
