Microfiber mops are an ideal solution for a quicker, cost-effective clean.
In a busy environment, finding time to keep it as hygienic as possible is often easier said than done. This is especially true in hospitals and medical centers, in which janitorial staff have a significant amount of space to keep clean with hundreds of people passing through every day.
As a cleaning solution, microfiber is becoming more and more popular. Due to its ultra-fine design, microfiber can collect more dirt and dust than standard materials. This allows you to perform a comprehensive clean while minimizing the amount of effort you may be used to investing. As microfiber also absorbs more moisture, less water is needed, leading to less waste and safer post-clean surfaces.
Microfiber mops are one of the more popular pieces of equipment available today, but how can you get the most out of yours?
Use Microfiber Mops Dry to Collect Dust
In areas with high amounts of dust, use your microfiber mops dry to gather this before wet-cleaning. Microfiber’s fine fibers will grab dust particles quickly and easily, and these are much easier to remove when they are dry. This equally true of hair, crumbs, and dirt.
These are tiny enough to be missed, particularly with conventional cleaning materials. With a dry microfiber mop, a quick sweep or two should be enough to clear the dustiest corners.
Launder Microfiber Mops Regularly
Microfiber can withstand more washes than standard cleaning-materials (often made with cotton), so you should try to wash them regularly, after multiple uses.
Washing wet microfiber mop heads is simple. Use gentle detergents in your machine, and avoid mixing in fabric softeners or bleaches, both of which can damage the fibers. You should rinse microfiber mops before putting them into your dryer, to remove the detergent entirely.
Go Easy On The Water
As microfiber absorbs more water than alternative materials, you can get an effective clean with less wastage.
Traditionally, we are used to filling a bucket with soapy water, and using this to rinse multiple times in a cleaning session. This can create a slippery surface, which puts you and others at risk of injury, and can lead to wastage if more water is used than needed.
The first time you use microfiber mops, avoid using too much water. Dip it in only quickly, and see how effectively you can clean with a small amount. You can always add more if needed.
Alternate Between Microfiber Mops To Maximize Their Lifespan
While microfiber offers a long lifespan, you should alternate between two or more mops to maximize their lifespan. If you use these everyday, you can buy in bulk and then eliminate the risk of leaving yourself unequipped when an individual one needs replacing.
America is embracing microfiber mops more and more. At Texas Microfiber, we are dedicated to introducing more people to its benefits, so give us a call to learn more.
